I am now considering the design for the iBooks as part of my range of deliverables. This is an area that I am not particularly familiar with in terms of using as I have only just got an iphone and have not really used an ipad. I am interested in how I can make the design of the ibooks stand out. I think that maybe promoting the ipod/ipad theme as 'free' when you purchase the iBook could add an extra incentive to buy the product.

I decided to hand draw 20 apps in the style of the Lolita typeface used for the cover of the book.

Final design :

Now I need to consider how the other book covers would apply to an iphone/ipad theme.

This theme could obviously be applied to an ipad as well.

Google Chrome theme

I have been working on a proposed theme for google chrome as part of the additional range for my book covers brief. The idea is that there will be a chrome theme to accompany each of the cover designs.

This is the first one I have created for Lolita....

First experiment with the font

I generated the font just so I could try it out.

The kerning, tracking needs a lot of work, however I like the overal aesthetic and I think that it suits the requirements of being 'hand rendered'. I have sent these samples to the client so he can give me some general feedback before I progress with it any further. 

Type face - Live brief

I got a live brief through off the back of a piece of work I did on my placement at Jelly. The brief is to create a usable typeface for the credits on a short film for a 3rd year DFGA student. There is also the possibility of selling them the font as part of their personal identity.

The reason I wanted to collaborate on this brief is that I have not yet made a full usable font on Fontographer so would like to gain this experience whilst I can still seek help from tutors and have the time to experiment with new software.

The typeface is based on Gil Sans and is completely hand drawn. The client specifically wants a hand drawn aesthetic which is why he is opting for a customised font rather than using a standard one.

I found a good tutorial to start me off. At first I found the software quite frustrating but as I got going it became easier.
